This Morning’s Michelle Elman Faces another Brain Surgery
Michelle Elman, a familiar face on ITV’s This morning, has announced she requires further brain surgery. The TV expert,author,and life coach revealed the news via an emotional Instagram update,explaining doctors have discovered a new cyst in her brain and that the magnetic device implanted to manage her hydrocephalus is no longer functioning correctly.
Elman, 32, lives with hydrocephalus, a condition causing potentially fatal fluid build-up around the brain. She relies on a metal magnet to regulate this fluid flow, and now requires a replacement for both the magnet and to address the new cyst.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Elman is attempting to remain positive. “It’s not urgent but it is indeed needed so now I have to figure out when to schedule this so it disrupts my life as little as possible,” she wrote. She anticipates delaying the procedure until next year, stating, “Inevitably I will have to pause my life and go deal with this, likelihood it will be next year, but until than it’s business as usual.”
This latest health challenge comes after a period of significant hardship for Elman, who has previously undergone 15 surgeries, survived a brain tumour, and battled a punctured intestine and obstructed bowels. Earlier this year, she also publicly shared the heartbreak of discovering her fiancé had cheated on her shortly after proposing.
Elman expressed her frustration with having to share her medical history publicly, noting it often leads to unwanted press attention. However, she emphasized her commitment to honesty with her followers, stating, “I’d much rather have the choice and the authority to decide for myself what I can and can’t do… I’d rather be in pain and live my life than watch my life pass me by again.”
Despite facing yet another operation, the award-winning life coach remains resolute to continue living life to the fullest. “I have lived a great life and really milked every moment I’ve had in this world so can’t complain,” she concluded.
