Ukraine‘s Justice Minister Suspended Amid Corruption Probe
Kyiv, Ukraine – November 12, 2025 – Ukraine’s Minister of Justice, Herman Halushchenko, has been suspended from his position, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced today on X (formerly Twitter). The suspension comes as Ukrainian authorities investigate alleged corruption within the country’s energy sector.
Ukrainian media reports Halushchenko’s removal is linked to an ongoing corruption examination. halushchenko himself stated on Facebook, “I consider that a suspension during the course of the investigation is civilized and correct.”
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (Nabu) announced Monday that it had conducted 70 searches targeting the energy sector following a 15-month investigation. Nabu alleges the existence of a “criminal organization at a high level” involving bribery connected to contracts awarded by Energoatom, Ukraine’s nuclear power company. The bureau estimates approximately $100 million USD was laundered through the alleged scheme.
It remains unconfirmed whether Halushchenko’s suspension is directly related to this specific investigation,as Nabu has not specified a direct connection.
Ljudmyla Suhak, currently Deputy Minister of Justice with responsibility for European integration, will assume Halushchenko’s duties. Halushchenko previously served as Ukraine’s Minister of Energy.
