A flood alert is in effect for parts of Greater Manchester as river levels continue to rise following recent heavy rainfall from storm Claudia. The alert, issued by the Environment Agency, covers areas around Knutsford, Wilmslow, Hale, Macclesfield and Bollington, impacting rivers Bollin, dean and Pedley, Birkin and Mobberley Brooks and their tributaries.
The ongoing disruption follows repeated flooding on a key dual carriageway, which remains closed due to a diverted water channel believed to be caused by tree fall during Storm claudia. Authorities are investigating the cause of the road flooding and expect to provide an update on Wednesday. the dual carriageway was previously closed due to flooding on Friday last week.
Low-lying land and roads near rivers are most at risk, according to the Environment Agency. Residents and motorists are advised to remain vigilant and monitor conditions.
