Andhra pradesh to Re-Launch NTR Baby Kit Scheme, Enhancing Maternal and Infant Care
VIJAYAWADA – Recognizing the critical need for support in the immediate postpartum period, the Andhra Pradesh state government, under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), is preparing to re-introduce the NTR Baby Kit scheme. The program is slated to begin rolling out by the end of December or early January, providing essential care items to new mothers delivering in government hospitals.
The NTR Baby Kit scheme originally launched during the NDA’s previous term (2014-2019) and is being revived with a renewed focus on improving maternal and child health outcomes throughout the state. The relaunch demonstrates a continued commitment to reducing infant mortality rates and ensuring a healthier start for newborns.
The scheme directly supports mothers who deliver in government healthcare facilities by providing a complete package of postnatal care necessities for both mother and child. This initiative aims to alleviate some of the financial burden associated with new parenthood and ensure access to basic hygiene and comfort items.
Each NTR Baby Kit will contain 13 carefully selected items, including:
- A baby bed with an integrated mosquito net
- Baby clothing
- Towels
- Washable nappies
- Baby powder
- Shampoo
- Oil
- Soap
- Soap box
- Rattle toy
- Carrying pouch
- Kit bag
These items are intended to be more than just products; they represent a tangible expression of support, dignity, and care for new mothers, particularly those with limited resources.
I truly believe initiatives like the NTR Baby Kit scheme can make a real difference in the lives of new families.
