meghan Trainor Addresses Backlash Over weight Loss, Prioritizes Health
LAS VEGAS - Meghan Trainor is responding to criticism surrounding her recent 60-pound weight loss, revealing the negative impact online comments have had on her well-being. The singer, who performed at Wynn Las vegas on September 28, 2025, shared her experience in a recent interview with PEOPLE, detailing a shift in the tone of her social media interactions.
Trainor explained that her online presence, typically “a friendly, happy, mom-loving place,” became “dark” as people began commenting on her body, stating she appeared “too thin” and “unrecognizable.” Despite feeling healthier than ever after focusing on her fitness, the singer was “confused and sad” by the reaction. This incident underscores the challenges public figures face navigating body image scrutiny and the often-contradictory expectations placed upon them.Trainor’s new album, Toy With me, is scheduled for release on April 24, and she is using her music to reclaim her power and prioritize her mental health.
“People started commenting about my body, saying I’m too thin, and that they don’t recognise me anymore,” Trainor recalled. “And I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve just been focusing so hard on my health and my fitness that I’ve never felt better.'” She admitted to finding herself crying after reading the comments.
To cope, trainor is leaning into her music, including her single “Still Don’t Care,” and adopting a new outlook on life. She shared a sentiment from her mother: “‘Well, don’t worry. one day we’ll be dead forever.'” Trainor continued, “And then I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, we have one life.’ At one point, we got to give up and stop caring. That’s my dream. That’s what I’m working on. I’m rewiring my brain to finally believe this. And I no when I sing it a hundred times, I will.”
