New ‘Star Trek’ Film In Works From Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley
HOLLYWOOD (October 26,2023) – A new Star Trek film is in advancement at Paramount Pictures, with Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley attached to write, produce, and direct. The project represents a fresh direction for the franchise, unconnected to previous films or series.
Goldstein and Daley are known for revitalizing established intellectual property, having contributed to the success of the Spider-Man franchise and recently directing Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves. Sources indicate this Star Trek installment will feature new characters and a standalone narrative.
The move aligns with comments made by Skydance founder David Ellison, who stated the next Star Trek film would not be a continuation of the Chris Pine-led series. Goldstein and Daley will produce the film under their GoldDay banner.
Their previous collaboration, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, was a critical and audience success for Paramount in 2023, earning a 91% score from critics and 92% from audiences. The duo also recently wrote, produced, and directed Mayday, an action comedy starring Ryan Reynolds for Skydance and Apple, which is slated for release next year and reportedly tested exceptionally well in early screenings.
Goldstein and Daley are represented by CAA, Fourth Wall Management, and Hansen Jacobson Teller.
