SEATTLE – Jordan Eberle‘s two third-period goals propelled the Seattle Kraken to a 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. Eberle broke a 3-3 tie at 7:21 of the final frame and sealed the victory with an empty-net goal in the closing minutes.
The Kraken’s win came with starting goaltender Joey Daccord sidelined due to injury,requiring Phillip Grubauer to step in and make 23 saves. For Winnipeg, the loss drops their record to 1-4 on a current six-game road trip, as thay continue to search for consistent success away from home.
Eeli Tolvanen had leveled the score at 3-3 with a power-play goal at 4:11 of the third period. Matty Beniers assisted on Eberle’s go-ahead goal, finishing the night with two assists alongside Vince Dunn. Kaapo kakko and Dunn also found the back of the net for Seattle.
Mark Scheifele led the Jets with a goal and an assist, while Alex Iafallo and Kyle Connor also scored. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 13 shots for Winnipeg. Scheifele and Connor are tied for the team lead in goals with 10 apiece.
Eberle’s performance marked the second time this month he has scored twice in a game at Climate Pledge arena, having previously achieved the feat in a 3-2 victory over Edmonton on October 25.
The Jets will continue their road trip Saturday night at Calgary.The Kraken will host San Jose on Saturday night.
