Dutch writer Heleen van Royen orchestrated ⁢a⁣ unique family-building arrangement,​ assisting a former girlfriend‍ in becoming a mother ​using her ex-partner, ton, ‌as a sperm donor. The story, recently highlighted in an interview, reveals ⁣a⁣ deliberate and ⁣collaborative effort too create a family ‍outside of conventional‍ relationships.

The idea, remarkably, originated with van Royen herself. “It was‌ literally my idea, as she wanted an anonymous donor. She really wanted a child and she⁤ had no relationship,” van Royen explained. ⁤ The girlfriend initially considered a donor from Scandinavia, but van Royen suggested Ton instead, believing he would be a suitable candidate.

Van Royen, who has ⁤two children of her ‍own, Sam and Olivia, expressed a positive view ⁤of expanding the family. ‌The​ proposal ⁣was considered overnight and ultimately accepted by all parties involved.⁣ ‌”The ​three of us did that in Portugal, not in a clinic,” van Royen stated. “She​ flew in every month when she was ovulating. That was really special and ​cool.”

Looking back, van Royen describes⁤ the​ experience with fondness.”It ⁤really benefits me. It’s not a ‍sacrifice for⁤ me, because I really ⁣enjoy it.” ⁣The resulting ⁣child, Noah, has ​become a cherished member of the extended family.

Van Royen observes striking ⁢similarities between Noah and her own ‌children. “When I see him, ​he really is Sam and Olivia’s​ brother. I think there are secretly some⁣ of my genes in him,” she joked, adding that‌ both she and Noah’s mother share similar personality traits, ⁢contributing​ to a familiar dynamic.
