“He truly had our backs through thick and thin,” Huni saeid in a statement.”We’ll miss his laughter, his guidance and his big energy every single day.”
Fui’s death comes ahead of Huni’s scheduled fight against Huseyin Cinkara on December 6, where he will defend his IBF and The Ring cruiserweight titles. Huni, 24, is recovering from his first professional loss – a knockout defeat to Fabio Wardley in England in September, a fight he took on short notice while battling an elbow injury that prevented sparring.Despite dominating the first ten rounds, Wardley secured a one-punch knockout. Wardley has since defeated Joseph Parker and is now in contention for a title shot against Oleksandr Usyk. Following the loss, Huni parted ways with his trainer Mark Wilson.
Huni recently stated, “After my fight with Fabio, my stocks went up. So after seeing that fight and sadly parker getting stopped, they went up again.”
