Kuwait Emphasizes Unified Security Approach for GCC Nations
KUWAIT – First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah underscored Kuwait’s conviction that the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states are inextricably linked, functioning as a unified system.He stated that the security of each GCC nation relies on the security of its counterparts, bound by a shared destiny and common objectives.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef made these remarks during the opening of the 42nd meeting of GCC interior ministers, held at Bayan Palace on Wednesday. The meeting brought together interior ministers and delegations from across the GCC.
He highlighted the importance of enhanced cooperation and security integration amongst GCC countries in the face of rapid regional and global changes and increasing challenges. He affirmed that collective Gulf security efforts have historically served as a robust defense against regional threats, including terrorism, extremism, and the dangers posed by drug trafficking – particularly to the youth and future of Gulf societies.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef stressed the continued need for joint efforts to combat drug abuse through coordinated field operations, experience sharing, and unified awareness and preventative campaigns.He also emphasized addressing related crimes like organized crime, electronic offenses, and money laundering, requiring constant preparedness and advanced coordination.
The Minister called for unified visions and security procedures, advocating for improved field work mechanisms, information exchange, and investment in modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, to bolster security capabilities and counter evolving criminal methods.
He broadened the definition of security beyond traditional border protection and crime fighting, emphasizing its impact on societal thought, awareness, and stability. Sheikh Fahad Al-yousef stated that fostering a conscious and engaged citizenry, rooted in values of belonging, loyalty, and shared responsibility, is fundamental to achieving enduring security.
Kuwait, he affirmed, remains committed to supporting all initiatives that strengthen the Gulf security system, believing that integration is essential to achieving the extensive security desired by the people and leadership of the GCC. He concluded by expressing thankfulness for the efforts of GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Budaiwi and the assistant General secretariat for Security Affairs in implementing decisions and recommendations from the meeting.
