Hardy Delivers haunting Performance of ‘Bottomland’ on ‘Fallon‘
Country artist Hardy debuted a poignant performance of his song “Bottomland” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week, showcasing a deeply personal track from his recently released album, Country! Country!. The performance arrives as Hardy prepares for an extensive tour supporting the 20-track project, set to run through August 2026.
The song, which features the lyrics “Bury me in bottomland/ I am just a country boy/ Where I come from didn’t have no choice/ But what I’ve done well or so I’m told/ So baby wear my watch, baby sell my gold,” offers a glimpse into the album’s surprisingly dark undercurrent. Rolling Stone noted that Country! Country! contains at least eight songs contemplating death, a theme Hardy has explored following a near-fatal bus crash in 2022 that left him with physical injuries and PTSD.
Country! Country! marks Hardy’s fourth studio album and includes the single “Favorite Country Song.” he discussed the new songs, his cover of The 1975’s “Love It If We Made It,” and the impact of the 2022 bus accident during a recent appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast.
Hardy’s upcoming Country! Country! Tour! kicks off in february and will feature a rotating lineup of supporting artists including Tucker Wetmore, Muscadine Bloodline, Jake Worthington, Cameron Whitcomb, Mitchell Tenpenny, and McCoy Moore.
