Venezuelan Pitcher Wilkerman Ramírez Killed in Apparent Robbery Attempt
Valencia, Venezuela – Wilkerman Ramírez, a rising star in Venezuelan professional baseball, was murdered Monday afternoon, November 10, 2025, in Valencia. Authorities report the 23-year-old pitcher allegedly resisted a robbery, resulting in his death. the CICPC (Scientific, Penal and Criminalistic Investigations Corps) has launched an investigation, stating no hypotheses are being ruled out.
Ramírez had recently played for Navegantes del Magallanes in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) and previously pitched in the Milwaukee Brewers’ minor league system. News of his death prompted an outpouring of condolences from teams across the LVBP and the wider baseball community.
Ramírez signed with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2016 at age 15 for a $250,000 bonus. He compiled a 4-3 record with a 4.03 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 80.1 innings during his time in the Brewers’ minor league system.
