Montréal Festival Spotlights Rising Popularity of Georgian Wine
Georgian wines took center stage at La Grande Dégustation de Montréal, a leading wine and spirits festival held in the city, with support from the Georgian Embassy in Canada and the National Wine Agency of Georgia. Now in its 15th year, the festival attracts approximately 10,000 attendees annually, including wine professionals, journalists, and importers from around the globe, alongside wines from canada, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Greece, Romania, and other countries.
Nine varieties of Georgian wine, already available in the Quebec and Ontario markets, were showcased, generating meaningful interest among festival-goers. Salome Kurasbediani, Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia in Canada, and other embassy representatives were in attendance.
The festival appearance comes as Georgian wine exports to Canada continue to climb. in 2024, nearly 200,000 liters of Georgian wine were exported to Canada, a 16% increase from the previous year, generating USD 1.1 million in revenue-a 35% increase year-over-year. this positive trend continued through the first ten months of 2025, with 193,000 liters exported, representing a 19% increase, and revenue reaching GEL 1.2 million, a 32% increase from the same period in 2024.
