Como 1907 Appoints Former Chelsea FC Content Creator as First-Team Scout
Como, Italy – Serie A club Como 1907 has appointed Felix Johnston, previously known for his football analysis on social media and as a content creator for chelsea FC, as a first-team scout. The move underscores the club’s commitment to innovative recruitment strategies and leveraging emerging talent within the scouting world.
Johnston’s path to professional scouting was initially driven by passion, gaining recognition within the football community before transitioning into practical roles. He began his scouting career with a consultancy position at Danish side Vejle in April, and was contacted by Como at the end of July. The club’s director of recruitment reached out to Johnston via Twitter, impressed by his online analysis and seeking to integrate “modern, younger scouts” into the association. nine weeks later, Johnston secured a full-time position.
Currently balancing the role with his university studies in Milan, Johnston’s primary obligation involves evaluating players identified through data analysis.”My role, essentially, is that I get passed down data players, watch them on the eye and do a report,” Johnston explained. “I look at the players they ask me to look at. But it’s an all-encompassing role, not restricted by any region or position.” He typically compiles an initial report after viewing five full games, adjusting the number based on the player’s involvement in their team’s possession.
Como, currently seventh in Serie A in their second season back in the top flight, is described by Johnston as a “very forward-thinking club” eager to embrace new scouting perspectives. His reports will now be delivered directly to Cesc Fàbregas,Como’s technical director, rather than shared publicly on social media.
Johnston highlighted 16-year-old Ecuadorian center-back Deinner Ordonez, of Independiente del Valle - the same academy that produced Moises Caicedo - as a player to watch.
