North dakota (6-4, 4-2 MVFC) is looking to rebound after a narrow 15-10 loss to No. 1 North Dakota State,a game where the Bison didn’t take the lead until the final 2:22. Murray State (0-10, 0-6 MVFC) seeks its first win of the season following a 31-14 defeat at Northern Iowa. This matchup presents an opportunity for UND to strengthen its position in the Missouri Valley Football Conference standings and for Murray State to avoid finishing the season winless.
The series between the two programs is brief, with North Dakota leading 2-0.Last season, UND secured a 72-35 victory over the Racers in Grand Forks, a score notable for being a “scorigami” – the first of its kind in FBS/FCS history. The Fighting Hawks also won the first meeting, 45-31, at Murray State on November 4, 2023.
In last week’s contest against NDSU, UND’s defense limited the Bison to a season-low 268 yards of offense and only 10 first downs, the programme’s fewest in 11 years. Malachi McNeal and Zach Lewis led the Fighting Hawks with eight tackles each, and mcneal added an interception that led to UND’s only score.
Murray State saw both Kaleb Bailey and Baxter wright at quarterback against Northern Iowa, combining for 13-of-21 passing for 159 yards and one touchdown. The Racers were tied 14-14 at halftime before surrendering 17 second-half points.
