Paris Box Office: Harold and Maude Revival Surpasses 645,000 Admissions After Two Weeks
A re-release of the 1971 cult classic Harold and Maude is experiencing a remarkable resurgence in French cinemas, reaching 645,000 admissions after just two weekends and benefiting from nearly 10,000 additional sessions. The film’s strong performance signals a continued appetite among French audiences for classic and art-house cinema, demonstrating the potential for prosperous re-releases to draw important crowds.
While Harold and Maude thrives, Kaamelott – Second part (part 1) lags behind expectations with 93,000 spectators across 11 screens, totaling 869,000 admissions over three weekends – significantly less than the 1.8 million achieved by the first Kaamelott film. New releases also faced a competitive landscape, with the Unknown of the Grande Arche selling 67,000 tickets for 20 screens, a start lower than Stéphane Demoustier’s Borgo (72,000 entries for 22 screens) and The Girl with the Bracelet (101,000 admissions for 29 screens).
Elsewhere, Sacred Heart continues to perform well with 39,000 entries (-21%) for 30 screens. Sow and harvest garnered 1,512 spectators with an remarkable average of 58 screens, boosted by director Éric Le Roch’s presence at most of the film’s 26 screenings. The documentary Defenders of Christ secured a solid average of 27 screens for 5,900 entries.
