SHAH ALAM, Malaysia – Following Persib Bandung’s 3-2 victory over Selangor FC in the AFC Cup 2 on November 7, Malaysian football fans have lauded the Indonesian club, comparing them to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), the dominant force in the Malaysia League. the turnaround win – sparked by an own goal from Ricardi (17′) before braces from Adam Alis (81′, 90+7′) and Andrew Jung (49′) – secured Persib’s continued lead in Group G with 10 points from four matches (three wins, one draw).
Selangor FC fans, particularly through the Selangor Fanatik Official account, expressed disappointment with their team’s loss while together acknowledging Persib’s strength. “This year we are taking part in 4 competitions, it is indeed impossible to take part in all of them and the ACL 2 tournament is one of the tournaments that has to be sacrificed for the sake of other paths and you didn’t learn first about who Persib bandung is?,” the account posted. Persib needs only one more point to qualify for the ACL 2 knockout stage and will face Lion City Sailors on November 26.
