Gold Pound in Egypt Reaches 42,760 Pounds Amid global Fluctuations
Cairo, Egypt – November 9, 2025 – The price of the gold pound in Egypt reached 42,760 Egyptian pounds today, according to reports, as global gold markets experience volatility influenced by US interest rate expectations and central bank activity. This marks a significant figure for investors and consumers in Egypt, where all 21 caliber gold bullions are currently in circulation. global gold prices are fluctuating around $4001 per ounce.
The current market conditions are impacting gold prices across the board. 24 karat gold is trading at 6109 pounds per gram, while 21 caliber gold is at 5345 pounds, and 18 karat gold is priced at 4581 pounds. The price movement comes as the decline in expectations for a US interest rate cut exerts downward pressure on gold, as higher interest rates reduce the attractiveness of gold as an investment compared to interest-bearing assets. This, in turn, strengthens the dollar, further impacting gold prices due to their inverse relationship.
Recent data from the world Gold Council indicates that central banks continue to bolster gold reserves, reporting net purchases of 39 tons in September – a 79% increase from the previous month and the highest monthly net purchase rate of 2025. Year-to-date, central banks have acquired a net total of 200 tons of gold, signaling continued confidence in the precious metal as a store of value.
