Queen Camilla Attends Remembrance Service, Replaces Kate on Balcony

Queen Camilla Resumes‌ Senior Remembrance Sunday⁢ Role as King Charles‍ Shows⁤ Emotion

LONDON‍ – Queen Camilla today joined King Charles and other senior⁤ members of the royal Family at the National Service of Remembrance in Whitehall, marking‍ her return to a prominent role on the Foreign,Commonwealth & Growth Office balcony after missing last year’s event ⁣due‍ to ⁢a chest‌ infection.

Camilla’s presence signifies ⁢a return to the customary order of precedence, as last year the princess of Wales was the highest-ranking royal on the balconies in the Queen’s‍ absence. ⁤This year, ‌Her Majesty resumed leading members⁣ of the Royal ⁤Family from the ‍central balcony overlooking Whitehall.

Thousands gathered to witness the Remembrance Service, which included a march past the⁣ memorial by approximately 10,000 veterans. The beginning and end of the two-minute silence were marked by volleys fired by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery‌ from ‌Horse Guards Parade.

The Duke and Duchess ⁢of Gloucester also observed the service from a ⁤balcony. King Charles was visibly moved during the silence, appearing ⁢tearful as the ⁣nation⁣ remembered those who served. Duchess Sophie was seen wiping away ‌a tear as⁤ her husband, Prince Edward, ‍laid a wreath at the‍ memorial.
