Kyle Larson Reaffirms NASCAR Commitment: “I Didn’t Love It”
CONCORD,NC – Kyle Larson emphatically shut down speculation about his future in NASCAR,stating plainly,”I wouldn’t be doing this,” if he didn’t enjoy the sport. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion addressed concerns directly, adding, “I have no plans of stopping full-time NASCAR racing for a long time.”
The clarification comes despite recent fan backlash regarding a proposal to the NASCAR calendar, and as Larson prepares to compete in the Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway next week, marking an early start to his off-season dirt-track racing schedule.
Larson, 33, has consistently maintained a demanding racing calendar, balancing 38 NASCAR Cup Series races with additional starts in lower divisions and over 20 dirt events annually. He expressed deep personal connection to Placerville Speedway, where he began racing as a teenager, stating, “It’s really special to me to be part of an event that means so much to me…Placerville Speedway is a place where my family and I grew up going to, not just as fans, but to race.”
The Hangtown 100 will initiate a series of nine USAC races on the West Coast. Drivers like Ty gibbs and Corey Day are also expected to participate in dirt racing during the off-season. The emergence of versatile racers capable of excelling across multiple disciplines has been noted by manufacturers like Toyota and Chevrolet, who are increasingly focused on developing adaptable talent.
Despite his off-season dirt racing pursuits, Larson remains fully committed to the NASCAR Cup Series.
