CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Houston Christian‘s volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on thursday night, falling 3-1 at the Dugan Wellness Center. The Islanders won with scores of 25-16,25-27,25-15,and 27-25.
A&M-Corpus Christi took control in the first set, capitalizing on a .114 hitting percentage from HCU to secure a 25-16 victory. Houston Christian responded in the second set, recording 17 kills and hitting .310 to win 27-25 and tie the match. However, the Islanders regained momentum with a 25-15 win in the third set.
The fourth set was tightly contested, with both teams trading points and reaching extra points before A&M-Corpus Christi closed it out 27-25 to claim the match.
The Islanders finished with 60 kills compared to HCU’s 54, posting a .360 team attack percentage against the Huskies‘.191.A&M-Corpus Christi also recorded 73 digs to HCU’s 57 and committed fewer errors (10) than Houston Christian (24).
Allana Archie led the Huskies with 19 kills and a .381 hitting percentage, adding three aces and nine digs.Katy barger contributed 18 kills,and Hannah Redrow added eight. madison Hess dished out 50 assists and added five digs.
