Boil Water Advisory in Effect for Lucas,​ Kansas

LUCAS, KS‌ – Residents‍ of Lucas, kansas, ⁣are under‌ a boil water ‌advisory ⁢issued Wednesday, May 8, 2024, following a water⁢ main break.The advisory impacts all‍ customers of the Lucas Rural Water District no. 1.

The Kansas Department of Health‍ environment (KDHE) issued the ‌order after ⁣the ⁣break potentially compromised the​ water system’s safety.Until ​further notice, affected residents should boil water for one minute ⁤prior to drinking, making ice, ⁤washing dishes, or cooking. alternatively, ‍bottled water can be used. The advisory affects ‌approximately 300 people in the small central​ Kansas town.

The Lucas Rural ‍Water District is working to repair the water main adn restore service. Once repairs are complete, water samples will‍ be ​tested to ensure water quality ⁢meets safety standards. Residents can receive​ updates by contacting the KDHE at kda.fsl@ks.gov or by checking local news sources. The KDHE will lift the boil water advisory once test results confirm the⁢ water is safe for consumption.
