Boil Water Advisory in Effect for Lucas, Kansas
LUCAS, KS – Residents of Lucas, kansas, are under a boil water advisory issued Wednesday, May 8, 2024, following a water main break.The advisory impacts all customers of the Lucas Rural Water District no. 1.
The Kansas Department of Health environment (KDHE) issued the order after the break potentially compromised the water system’s safety.Until further notice, affected residents should boil water for one minute prior to drinking, making ice, washing dishes, or cooking. alternatively, bottled water can be used. The advisory affects approximately 300 people in the small central Kansas town.
The Lucas Rural Water District is working to repair the water main adn restore service. Once repairs are complete, water samples will be tested to ensure water quality meets safety standards.
