Technical Secondary school No. 31 Integrates Arts to Foster Creativity, Teamwork
Monterrey, Nuevo León – Technical Secondary School No. 31 ”ing. Roberto Medellín Ostos” is reinforcing its commitment to holistic student development by prioritizing art and music as integral components of its curriculum, under the framework of the New Mexican School initiative from the SEP. Beyond core academics, the school offers a dance workshop and other artistic activities designed to cultivate expression, creativity, and collaboration among students.
The school’s emphasis on the arts aims to provide students with well-rounded educational experiences, preparing them not only for future academic pursuits but also for success in a rapidly evolving world that increasingly values innovation and interpersonal skills. This approach aligns with the New Mexican School model, which seeks to move beyond rote memorization and foster critical thinking and practical application of knowlege.
Teacher Maria del Consuelo Romero, who leads the dance workshop, champions art as a vital space for students to express themselves and work together. Students like Eunice and Mateo, both in the third grade, actively participate in the workshop, with Mateo specifically citing the program as a key factor in his decision to attend Technical Secondary School No. 31.
“I really like dancing, that’s why I decided on this school,” Mateo explained.
The school continues to implement the New Mexican School scheme, integrating artistic and technical activities to comprehensively train its student body.
