Sabalenka Advances to Tournament of Champions Final After Grueling Battle with Anisimova
Riyadh, November 7, 2025 – Aryna Sabalenka secured her place in the Tournament of Champions final, overcoming a resilient Amanda Anisimova in a captivating three-set match lasting two hours adn 23 minutes. Sabalenka will face Elena Rybakina in the final.
The opening set saw a tight contest with both players demonstrating strong baseline exchanges. Sabalenka and Anisimova each defended multiple break points early on, with Sabalenka ultimately breaking Anisimova’s serve to lead 4-2. She then secured another break at 5-3, closing out the first set 6-3.
Anisimova responded emphatically in the second set, capitalizing on early errors from Sabalenka to win the opening game on serve. She continued her momentum, winning the next two games to lead 3-0, and ultimately took the set 6-3.
The decisive third set remained competitive until 3-3, when Sabalenka broke Anisimova’s serve. She then consolidated the break and secured another on return, sealing the set 6-3 and her progression to the final.
“Amanda had me absolutely on edge. I gave it my best, it was an unbelievable fight. Even if I lost, I couldn’t blame myself. The opponent played great, unreal, no doubt more great successes are waiting for her,” Sabalenka said after the match.
