A romeoville family is reeling after ‌falling victim to an elaborate immigration scam, just as federal deportations intensify under the Department of Homeland Security’s “operation Midway Blitz.” The family, attempting to secure legal⁣ sponsorship for a relative, was defrauded by an individual falsely presenting herself as‌ an attorney. The ABA has issued a public ‌alert, warning individuals to be wary of direct‌ solicitations via social ‌media or WhatsApp,⁣ and requests for payment through mobile platforms. The association emphasized it‌ generally does‍ not charge for legal services.

The davila family has launched a GoFundMe page‍ to raise funds for legal support and assistance as they work to secure the release of their father, currently‌ in ICE⁢ detention. “My prayers are with all the immigrant ⁢community and we know in the end we will see the light,” Davila stated.
