Hours later, returning to the same hospital, the paramedic learned the patient had tragically passed away. A CT scan revealed the cause: a ruptured aortic aneurysm. What made the case particularly striking was the absence of typical symptoms. “Ruptured aortas usually (as in, every other case I’ve seen/heard about/read about) have other symptoms such as high heart rate, low blood pressure (or both), dizziness/lightheadedness, pain…this woman had none of those,” the paramedic explained.
