Istanbul, Türkiye - Turkish prosecutors have issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several other high-ranking Israeli officials, accusing them of genocide. The warrants, issued friday evening by the Istanbul Attorney General’s Office, target a total of 37 Israeli suspects.
Alongside Netanyahu, warrants have been issued for Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Minister of national Security Itamar Ben Gvir. The Attorney General’s Office stated the individuals are accused of “genocide and crimes against humanity” allegedly “systematically carried out” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The move follows repeated accusations from Turkish President recep Tayyip erdoğan,who has accused Israel of genocide and deliberately starving the population of gaza since the start of the conflict. A ceasefire in the Gaza Strip has been in effect for one month.
