AbbeHealth Mental Health Services Opens Expanded Facility in Downtown Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – November 2, 2023 – UnityPoint Health – AbbeHealth Services – Abbe Center for Community Mental Health is celebrating the opening of its expanded Cedar Rapids location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 6th. The new facility, located at 615 Fifth Street SE – the former Stamats building – represents a significant investment in mental health resources for the community.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m., followed by an open house and tours for employees and donors from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Attendees will include UnityPoint Health team members, board members, administrators, donors, and representatives from the Cedar Rapids Economic Alliance.
Consolidated Services for Comprehensive Care
The newly renovated 31,000-square-foot facility brings together services previously offered at multiple locations,consolidating providers from Abbe Center for Community Mental Health - Cedar Rapids,UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine – Abbe Center,and Abbe Center for community Mental Health – Hiawatha under one roof. This strategic consolidation aims to streamline care and improve accessibility for individuals seeking support.
The downtown location offers a comprehensive range of services, including therapy, psychiatric care, primary care, crisis intervention, and peer support. Notably, the facility also serves as the home for the Iowa Warm Line, accessible at 1-844-775-9276. This 24-hour confidential helpline provides crucial emotional support to individuals across the state of iowa, staffed by trained peer specialists.
Community support Fuels Expansion
Renovations to transform the building into a state-of-the-art behavioral health care facility were made possible through generous community and corporate contributions to the AbbeHealth Capital Campaign. The campaign was spearheaded by the St. Luke’s Foundation, demonstrating a strong commitment from local stakeholders to expanding mental health services.
