Danny Röhl‘s tenure as head coach of Glasgow Rangers has begun with a second consecutive defeat, this time a 2-0 loss at home to AS Roma in the Europa League. The result leaves the Rangers at the bottom of their group with no points after four matches, deepening concerns about their prospects in the competition.
Röhl, who previously served as an assistant coach to Hansi Flick with the German national team, took over from Russell Martin last month hoping to turn around the struggling Scottish club. However, the Rangers have yet to find the back of the net in the Europa League under his leadership, following this defeat after a 3-0 loss to Brann Bergen at the end of October.
Matias Soulé scored for Roma in the 13th minute, with Lorenzo Pellegrini adding a second goal in the 36th. Despite a determined effort, glasgow Rangers were unable to respond. They have only managed to score one goal in the entire Europa League campaign thus far.
The defeat comes as glasgow Rangers currently sit at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table after four games with no points, compounding the pressure on Röhl to deliver improvements.
