Houston Starbucks Bear Cup Frenzy: Customers Brawl Over Collectible Item

Fight Breaks Out Over limited-edition Starbucks‌ ‘Bearista’ Cup in Houston

A​ limited-edition ‍starbucks cup ‍shaped like a ⁤bear sparked a disturbance at⁣ a​ Houston-area Starbucks ​location ​on November 6th, leading to a call for ‌law⁢ enforcement. Harris⁢ County deputies with constable‍ Mark herman’s Office responded to‍ a Starbucks​ in the 3000 block of FM 1960 ⁣near Aldine Westfield Road around 5:03⁣ a.m. after reports of individuals refusing to leave the store and⁣ fighting over the new “Bearista” cup.

The “Glass ‍Starbucks Bearista® Cold⁣ Cup,” priced⁣ at $29.95, features a bear-shaped glass design with a straw and ‌a ⁤festive green beanie. Starbucks had announced the release of its⁣ holiday ‌merchandise line, including the Bearista cup, on November 6th. The company⁤ promised the cup would “bring‌ instant joy to every sip.”

According to a Facebook post from Constable mark Herman, deputies ‍were dispatched ​”to restore peace before anyone spilled their latte or lost ‍their teddy bear.”

Despite shipping more‍ Bearista ⁢cups to stores than almost ‍any other holiday merchandise item, Starbucks acknowledged the high⁢ demand. “despite shipping more Bearista cups to coffeehouses than almost any other merchandise item this holiday season, the Bearista cup and some⁢ other items ‍sold ⁣out fast,” Starbucks ‌told NBC News in⁣ an email. “We ⁣understand many customers were excited about the Bearista⁤ cup and‌ apologize for the disappointment this may have‍ caused.”

The cups are now ⁢appearing on resale‌ sites for hundreds of dollars. Starbucks customers still have an opportunity to obtain a special ‌cup on November⁢ 13th, which is Red Cup Day, where ⁣a grande-sized reusable red holiday cup is​ given to customers who purchase any size holiday beverage.
