Lego is setting a course for the final frontier, announcing a 3,600-piece USS Enterprise-D building set based on Star trek: The Next Generation. The model, available November 28, will retail for $400.
The arrival of a Lego Enterprise-D marks a significant moment for fans of both franchises who have long anticipated a collaboration. While Lego has successfully partnered with other major science fiction properties like Star Wars, a Star Trek offering has remained elusive-until now. this release caters to a dedicated fanbase and taps into the enduring popularity of the Next Generation, a series that continues to resonate with audiences thanks to recent high-definition remastering of its original footage.
The set includes nine minifigures: Captain Picard, Commander Riker, Data, Doctor Crusher, counselor Troi, Worf, Geordi La Forge, Guinan, and Wesley Crusher. Each figure is accompanied by a character-specific accessory, such as Worf’s phaser and Riker’s trombone. The model itself features a detailed recreation of the Enterprise-D, including the ability to separate the saucer section from the engineering hull. Logos and decals have been carefully reproduced for accuracy.
Star Trek: The Next Generation originally aired from the late 1980s through the early 1990s and represents a high point in the franchise’s creative output. The Lego Group’s decision to begin with the Enterprise-D reflects this legacy and the show’s continued relevance in popular culture.
