‘gremlins 3’ Officially Scheduled for November 2027 Release
warner Bros. Revelation has set a November 2027 release date for “Gremlins 3,” continuing the saga of the mischievous creatures that first terrorized audiences in 1984. The announcement comes as Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group boasts a successful 2025 theatrical run and a strong financial position, currently leading the global box office with over $4 billion in revenue.
The original “Gremlins,” directed by joe Dante and produced by Steven Spielberg, became a box office phenomenon, earning $212 million worldwide on a relatively modest budget. the film’s plot centered around Billy Peltzer receiving a peculiar pet, a Mogwai, with three crucial rules: never expose it to sunlight, never get it wet, and never feed it after midnight. Breaking these rules resulted in the spawning of destructive gremlins who wreaked havoc on Billy’s hometown during Christmas. While the 1990 sequel, “Gremlins 2: The New Batch,” earned $41 million and achieved cult classic status, a third installment has remained in development for decades.
warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav highlighted the studio’s recent successes during an investor call, noting a streak of seven consecutive releases in 2025 opening above $40 million, including films like “A Minecraft Movie,” “Sinners,” “Weapons,” and “The conjuring: Last Rites.” This success helps offset financial setbacks like Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” currently tracking to lose $100 million despite its $130 million budget and potential Oscar recognition. Zaslav emphasized the studio’s leadership in the 2025 box office, both domestically and internationally, attributing it to a diverse slate of films appealing to various demographics.
