Rangers Bolster Roster ⁢with Waiver Claims as Outfielders Enter Free Agency

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers added depth to their roster Tuesday by claiming two players off waivers: infielder Ezequiel ‍Duran from the Cincinnati Reds and⁣ right-handed pitcher ⁤Cole Ragans from the kansas City Royals. The moves come as the Rangers saw two outfielders, Michael⁢ Reed and⁢ Blake⁤ Sims, become free‍ agents.

The‍ acquisitions address potential needs as the Rangers‌ navigate the offseason ‌following their 2023 World Series championship. Duran, 24, has appeared in 117 major league games, primarily at third base, and offers versatility for manager Bruce Bochy. Ragans, 25, is a left-handed pitcher who pitched in 13 games for the⁢ Royals in 2023. The departures of Reed and Sims‌ create openings on the 40-man roster, allowing the Rangers to add Duran and Ragans without immediate cuts.

These roster adjustments are part of the Rangers’ ongoing efforts to build upon their recent success and maintain a competitive ‌team. The team will‌ now focus on evaluating Duran‍ and Ragans during spring training, which is scheduled ‍to begin in February 2026 with 29 games in Arizona, as revealed by the MLB schedule released earlier this month.
