Chargers Add Long Snapper from UFL’s Michigan Panthers
The Los Angeles Chargers announced today, February 6, 2025, the signing of long snapper Peter Bowden, formerly of the Michigan Panthers of the United Football league. Bowden will compete for the starting long snapper position with the Chargers as they prepare for the 2025 NFL season.
The move addresses a specialized position for the Chargers following the 2024 season. Long snappers are crucial to special teams play, handling both punts and field goal/extra point attempts. Bowden’s signing provides depth and competition at the position, possibly upgrading a key component of the Chargers’ special teams unit. He finished the 2024 UFL season with the Panthers, demonstrating consistency and technique that caught the attention of NFL scouts.
Bowden played collegiately at Wake Forest, where he was a four-year letterman and a consistent presence on the demon Deacons’ special teams. After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, he joined the Michigan Panthers, quickly establishing himself as a reliable long snapper in the UFL. He will now vie for a roster spot with the chargers during the offseason and training camp.
