Prince William Opens Up About His Biggest Worry: the Future for His Children
Prince William, 43, has spoken candidly about his deep concern for the planet his children – Prince George (12), Princess Charlotte (10), and Prince Louis (7) – will inherit. The Prince of Wales expressed his anxieties in a recent interview, emphasizing the urgency of addressing climate change.
“As a father, I always think about the world my children will inherit. I want them to grow up surrounded by nature, possibility and a sense of hope. But I also know that if we don’t act boldly now, that future is in jeopardy,” Prince William shared.
This concern fuels his commitment to environmental initiatives, most notably the earthshot Prize, which he founded to support innovative solutions to global environmental challenges. This week, Prince William travelled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to announce the winners of the prestigious prize.
He highlighted the meaning of the location, stating, “Rio, with its energy, people and iconic landscapes, is the perfect place to celebrate the power of environmental innovation.” He further explained the driving force behind Earthshot: “With the Earthshot Award, we are trying to change direction – to show our children that we are willing to fight for their tomorrow. Urgent optimism is at the heart of this initiative. We believe that while the challenges are enormous, solutions are within reach, and we must act quickly and decisively.”
While in Brazil, Prince William is also scheduled to meet with world leaders at the Cop30 climate summit. Each of this year’s Earthshot Prize finalists will receive £1 million to advance their projects. The awards ceremony, taking place on November 5th, will be hosted by Brazilian presenter Luciano Huck.
