Colts WR Adonai Mitchell Subject of Trade Inquiries
The indianapolis Colts are fielding calls from other teams regarding wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, according too Pro Football Rumors. Despite being a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Mitchell has seen limited action this season with the return of the Colts’ top receiving options.
Mitchell, selected 52nd overall last year, has been quiet in 2024 as the Colts have leaned on Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce. Ninety-six of his 152 receiving yards came in a single game against the Rams. His opportunities have been further impacted by instances where his penalties negated touchdowns scored by Jonathan Taylor, including a blocking infraction.
The Colts’ willingness to move on from a young receiver on a rookie contract through the 2027 season would be surprising, given his potential as a depth piece. He started seven games during his rookie year, recording 23 receptions for 312 yards.Last year, Mitchell competed with Pierce for a starting spot, and while Pierce has become a more significant contributor, Mitchell’s development was also hindered by Anthony Richardson’s struggles with accuracy.
Indianapolis currently has ashton Dulin and rookie Anthony Gould as additional receiving options. Tyler Warren has also emerged as a contributor.
