in Pro Stock, Troy Coughlin Jr. extended his points lead with a victory over Greg Anderson in the semifinals and ultimately defeated Deric Kramer in the final. Coughlin’s performance included notable reaction times, notably a .026 light against Anderson, and a winning run of 6.606 at 206.92. He then secured the win against Kramer with an even quicker .006 reaction time. “This is very satisfying,” Coughlin said. “Coming in with a very similar points lead to last year where I had to sit and watch that lead go to negative. This is definitely a much better feeling to be sitting here holding the trophy this time. You definitely can’t describe how good this feels.” He added, “I have so much more confidence in the car and I got all the nervousness out last year with that astonishing points battle that we had between four drivers. I definitely feel way more relaxed, way less nervous. I was a wreck last year.” Coughlin now holds a 92-point lead over Anderson heading into Pomona.
Pro Stock Motorcycle saw Gaige Herrera continue his dominant form, earning his third consecutive Las Vegas victory and seventh of the season. Herrera defeated angie Smith in the final round with a run of 6.809 at 198.17 on his RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Suzuki. This win narrowed the gap to teammate and points leader Richard gadson to just 21 points, less than a single round of racing. Herrera’s path to the final included a thrilling semifinal matchup against Gadson, where he posted a .005 reaction time to Gadson’s perfect .000 start, ultimately winning with a 6.825. “This couldn’t have gone any better,” Herrera stated. “Me and my teammate [Gadson], facing off in the semis, with him in the points lead, so I needed him to go out to get a little closer. What a race between me and him, my .005 light to his perfect .000 light. It just doesn’t get any better than that.It also just goes to show how hungry we both are to get this championship right now.” He expressed a desire to face Gadson in the final round at Pomona to decide the championship.
Angie Smith reached the Pro Stock Motorcycle final round for the second time this season and 11th time in her career, having previously defeated Freddie Camarena, Matt Smith, and Brayden Davis.
