Jean-Paul Rouve Shares Dramatic Birth Story on TV Show

Jean-Paul rouve Reveals ⁣harrowing Birth Story: Midwife‘s Quick thinking⁢ Saved ⁢His Life

Actor Jean-Paul Rouve, currently starring in The ‍Bourgeois gentleman at⁣ the Théâtre Antoine in Paris, recently shared a deeply personal adn previously unknown story: he nearly died during childbirth in 1967. The actor recounted⁢ the life-threatening delivery and the⁢ crucial intervention of a midwife who detected a faint heartbeat when doctors believed it was too late.

Rouve’s story underscores the vital, often unsung role of midwives, particularly in an era before⁤ widespread ultrasound technology. His mother, very young ⁣at the time, ⁤faced a dire situation were doctors presented his father with an unfeasible choice – prioritizing the mother’s life over the child’s. The⁢ actor’s revelation ⁢highlights the precariousness‌ of childbirth in the ⁣past and the⁢ enduring impact‌ of skilled medical professionals.

During an interview, Rouve explained that his‍ birth was complicated⁤ by a possible umbilical cord issue, leading doctors to believe he ⁣was no longer alive. “I was born in 1967. So‌ there was no ultrasound. My mother is very young… The birth ⁣is not going⁢ well. They can’t get me out. I must be in the wrong place and I think I had the cord wrapped,” he recalled. “And there, the doctors go ‍to see ⁢my father and tell⁤ him: ‘Look, it’s hot. There, it’s the mother or the child. It‍ is believed that the child‍ should no longer be breathing. So we think it’s done.’ My father said to‌ them: ’Do what you have to do,you have to save the mother.'”

Though,⁢ a midwife, using a traditional stethoscope, detected a faint heartbeat, prompting continued efforts that ultimately⁣ saved⁤ Rouve’s ⁢life. “It’s the midwife who,‍ with ⁢the old-fashioned stethoscope, listens to my mother’s belly and hears that there is still⁤ the heart,” Rouve shared.

Remarkably,⁢ Rouve later ⁣encountered the midwife who saved him as a child. ⁤”This lady was already old.⁣ I met her again when I was⁤ little, when we went to the clinic. She saw me and she said to ⁤me: ‘Ah the miracle!’ She ⁣called me the ⁣miraculous.” Rouve is currently performing⁤ as Monsieur Jourdain in the Bourgeois Gentleman alongside ‌Xavier‍ Bertrand Haroun, Eléonora Galasso, and is preparing for the release of ⁢the fifth installment of the⁣ Tuche film series.
