The Traitors Star Elyn Wyn Credits Rare Condition with Endometriosis Diagnosis
LOS ANGELES, CA – The Traitors star Elyn Wyn has revealed she has uterus didelphys – a rare congenital condition resulting in two separate wombs – and expressed gratitude for the “abnormal anatomy” that ultimately led to a diagnosis of stage 4 endometriosis. Wyn shared her experience online, detailing years of dismissed symptoms and the relief of finally understanding her chronic pain.
Uterus didelphys develops in utero when the tubes that normally fuse to form a single uterus fail to do so, resulting in two wombs, each with its own cervix, and sometimes a double vaginal canal. While individuals with the condition face increased risks of miscarriage and preterm birth, they can still experience healthy pregnancies. For Wyn, the revelation of her double uterus prompted further inquiry that uncovered the endometriosis, a condition she says she was previously “constantly gaslit” about.
“They asked me if I insert a tampon, do I continue to bleed, and I said no,” Wyn recalled. “So it’s all normal except from my two wombs.” She remains puzzled by the synchronized nature of her periods, questioning, “What I don’t understand is if I have two wombs… why do they bleed at the same time? Are they just in sync?”
Wyn emphasized the importance of the endometriosis diagnosis, stating it was something she “really needed” after years of having her pain minimized.She is now awaiting a laparoscopy to surgically remove the endometriosis, a procedure delayed by an administrative error that initially left her off the referral list. After discovering she had never been referred, Wyn was re-added to the waiting list, effectively restarting the process.
Uterus didelphys affects an estimated 1 in 50,000 people. Symptoms can include pain during sex, painful cramping, heavy bleeding, spotting when using tampons (due to only one canal being reached), frequent miscarriages, and premature labor.
