Widow of Mario Iorgulescu Victim Reveals Million-Euro Fortune built From Compensation Funds
Melek Minca, the widow of a man killed in a 2019 high-profile hit-and-run incident involving Romanian footballer Mario Iorgulescu, has publicly disclosed that she transformed an initial compensation payout of 300,000 euros into a fortune exceeding one million euros through savvy investments and business ventures. The revelation, shared on TikTok, has sparked debate regarding the ethics of profiting from tragedy and the complexities of grief and financial recovery.
Approximately 18 months after her husband’s death, Minca received the 300,000 euro sum as insurance compensation. Initially hesitant, she accepted the funds after being encouraged by her father and father-in-law, fearing the money might be retracted if she refused. Minca explained her decision,stating,”Anyone,if they were in my place…the insurance offered me this money,right? Anyone would have taken it.” she further detailed her concerns at the time: “I was afraid that they would remove me from the file.”
Minca detailed how she strategically reinvested the money, launching businesses, purchasing property, and acquiring land. “What did I do with this money? I opened a business, I bought houses, I bought land, I opened another business,” she saeid. “From 300,000 euros, on the sheet, if you ask me too calculate, I exceeded the million euros. I have long as passed.”
Despite her financial success, Minca emphasized that no amount of money could replace her husband. “I thought about my children, I worked hard, I thought about myself to do something beneficial,” she stated, posing a question to her audience: “If you were in my place, what would you do?” The case continues to draw public attention, raising questions about victim compensation and the long-term financial and emotional consequences of tragic loss.
