NewJeans Contract Dispute: Court Rules Against Group

NewJeans‘ Bid to Leave ⁢Ador Agency Blocked by seoul Court

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – NewJeans⁢ will remain wiht ‍Ador as their management agency after a Seoul ‌court denied the K-pop groupS appeal to terminate ‍their exclusive contracts, a ruling announced today, April‌ 17, 2025. the decision marks a notable setback for‍ the group,⁤ who sought⁤ to dissolve their relationship with Ador following internal disputes and‌ the controversial firing of CEO min Hee-jin.

The legal battle ⁢began in September 2024 when NewJeans publicly announced their⁢ intention to end their contracts, citing a breakdown in trust with ador stemming from the circumstances surrounding Min’s departure and ⁢allegations of bullying. Ador subsequently filed a lawsuit requesting the ⁢court to uphold the existing contracts and ⁤prevent the group from pursuing ⁣independent activities. Despite a brief attempt‍ to rebrand as ⁤”NJZ” in February 2025, the court has now⁢ effectively halted any such efforts.

NewJeans’ legal depiction stated that while the members respect the court’s judgment, “given that‍ the relationship of trust with Ador has been wholly destroyed,⁢ it is impractical for them to return and continue normal entertainment⁣ activities under the company.”

Ador expressed “deep gratitude for the court’s decision,” affirming ‌its commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities as‍ NewJeans’ agency. The ‌company indicated it has completed ‌preparations for upcoming ‌releases, including a studio album, and intends to resume activities following‍ discussions with the group. The ruling leaves the future of newjeans and their relationship with Ador uncertain, with further negotiations expected to determine the path forward.
