Scala Data Centers & Barueri Municipality Forge Partnership for Landmark Data Center Campus
Barueri, Brazil – October 30, 2025 – Scala data Centers, a premier Latin American provider of enduring data center solutions for hyperscale clients, announced a significant agreement with the Municipality of Barueri today. The partnership secures approval for the master plan of Scala’s Tamboré Campus, poised to become the largest and most technologically advanced data center campus in Latin America.
This collaboration signifies more then just project validation; it initiates a new era of integrated urban development for the surrounding region. Scala will invest heavily in improvements to local infrastructure, including road upgrades, enhanced mobility solutions, and community-focused enhancements designed to benefit both residents and the workforce. These initiatives aim to alleviate traffic congestion, modernize roadways, and bolster public safety, fostering a more efficient and harmonious environment.
“The approval of Scala’s Tamboré Campus master plan is a pivotal moment, solidifying Barueri’s reputation as a global center for innovation and technology,” stated Mayor José Roberto “Beto” Piteri. “This partnership transcends digital infrastructure - it’s a thorough investment in our city, driving job creation, sustainable economic growth, and improvements to the quality of life for our community.”
Sustainable Innovation Powers Growth
The Tamboré Campus is central to Scala’s operations and exemplifies a commitment to both efficiency and environmental stewardship. The campus will operate entirely on 100% renewable energy, secured through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that directly fund the development of new wind and solar energy projects.
This commitment is further reinforced by a focus on maximum energy efficiency, achieving a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.35 - significantly lower than the global average of 1.55 – through the implementation of cutting-edge liquid cooling technologies.
Scala also prioritizes responsible water management, utilizing closed-loop cooling systems that eliminate reliance on local water sources, protecting groundwater and aquifers.
“This partnership with the municipality underscores Scala’s dedication to enabling the future through collaboration, responsibility, and transformative impact,” said Luciano Fialho, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, Energy, and Real Estate at Scala. “We firmly believe that technological advancement should be a catalyst for economic prosperity and an improved quality of life for everyone in the region.”
A Regional Powerhouse & Investment Milestone
The Tamboré Campus is rapidly establishing itself as a leading digital infrastructure hub in Latin America. With investments already exceeding R$ 10 billion, the complex is a strategic asset in Brazil’s evolving digital landscape.
Strategically located near the Rodoanel highway in Greater São Paulo, the campus currently features seven operational data centers with additional facilities under construction, providing over 120 MW of active capacity. Supported by three dedicated power substations, the campus is planned to reach a total capacity of 600 MW across 17 data centers upon full development.
The signed memorandum paves the way for future expansion phases, positioning the Tamboré Campus among the top 10 largest data center campuses globally. Beyond its scale, the project is projected to generate significant employment opportunities and serve as a benchmark for operational excellence in the emerging Artificial Intelligence era.
The approval of the Tamboré Campus master plan represents a critical step in expanding Latin America’s digital infrastructure and demonstrates the strength of Scala’s business model: driving the AI revolution through innovative technology, while prioritizing social progress and environmental sustainability.
