Blue Jays Surge to World Series Lead, ‍Defeat Dodgers 6-3

LOS ANGELES – The ⁢Toronto Blue Jays​ seized a 3-2 lead ‌in ​the World Series Wednesday, defeating⁤ the Los Angeles ⁣Dodgers 6-3 in a game marked by early power hitting and resilient ⁤pitching. The victory puts Toronto one win away from ⁣their first championship as 1993.

This outcome dramatically shifts the momentum in the best-of-seven series. After dropping​ Games ⁣1 and 2 in Los Angeles, the Blue Jays ​have won three straight, returning to ​Toronto with ‍a chance to⁢ clinch the title at home. The Dodgers, seeking their first championship ‍since 2020, now ‌face elimination and must win two consecutive games on the road to stay⁤ alive.⁢

Davis Schneider, unexpectedly batting leadoff due to an injury to ‌George Springer, launched ‌a first-pitch home run in ⁤the⁤ top of the first⁣ inning.Vladimir guerrero Jr. followed with a two-run shot⁤ later in the inning, giving Toronto an early 3-0 advantage against Dodgers’ starting pitcher Blake Snell. Guerrero’s⁣ home‍ run was his eighth of the postseason.

“I⁢ think we⁢ just want to be the toughest outs we can possibly⁢ be,” said Blue Jays shortstop​ Bo Bichette. “We’re a team,man,and we’ll do anything‍ we ⁣can to win.”

Snell, despite the early damage, settled in to​ strike out seven batters over⁤ four innings.Though, the Blue Jays extended their​ lead in‌ the fourth ‍with a sacrifice fly by Ernie ⁤Clement, scoring Daulton Varsho who reached base on a leadoff triple. Further runs⁣ were added in the seventh on a wild pitch and an RBI single by​ Bichette, and in the ‌eighth with a run-scoring single from Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

The Dodgers managed only three runs, ⁣failing to capitalize⁢ on opportunities.

Game 6 is scheduled ⁢for Friday in Toronto, with Dodgers right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto facing off against⁢ Blue⁤ Jays right-hander kevin Gausman. ‍Yamamoto pitched a four-hitter in Game 2, while Gausman allowed three runs‌ in 6 2/3⁣ innings. Yamamoto’s recent performance marked the first World⁤ Series ‌complete game as 2015 and ‍the first consecutive postseason complete games ⁤since 2001.
