Salem Woman Dies in House Fire – Investigation Underway

A 71-year-old Salem woman died‌ Wednesday in a house ​fire ⁣in the North Lancaster area, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Lesa Lemons was the sole occupant of the home and‌ was found after firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire.

The fire, reported around 12:30 p.m.‌ in the 4700 block of Northeast Oak ​Park Drive, drew a response from Marion County Fire​ District #1 and the Oregon State Fire ​Marshal. While the⁢ cause of the fire remains under examination,⁤ authorities ⁣stated it does not appear to be ⁤suspicious. The loss highlights the ongoing risk of residential fires and the importance of fire safety,particularly for vulnerable populations like seniors who may live alone.

Firefighters arrived to ⁤find the home “fully engulfed,” the Sheriff’s Office reported.‌ Lemons was pronounced ‌dead at⁤ the scene. Authorities have not‌ yet released details regarding where in the home she was⁣ located.
