KENYA PLANE CRASH: ALL ABOARD LOST, INCLUDING EIGHT HUNGARIAN TOURISTS
A Cessna Caravan aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Diani Airport in Kwale County, Kenya, on Tuesday morning, resulting in the deaths of all passengers and the Kenyan pilot. Mombasa Air Safari, the operator of the flight, has confirmed there where no survivors. The crash has prompted an inquiry by Kenyan civil aviation authorities and leaves families of the victims facing devastating loss.
Among the ten people on board were eight Hungarian tourists, two German nationals, and a Kenyan captain. The plane was en route to the Maasai Mara National Park, a popular safari destination, when it went down approximately 40 kilometers from the airport in a forested area and later caught fire.
According to preliminary reports from Mombasa Air Safari President John Cleave, “Unfortunately, there are no survivors.” Eyewitnesses reported hearing a large explosion and discovering burned wreckage and human remains at the crash site.
The cause of the crash remains unknown,and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has launched a full investigation to determine the factors that led to the tragedy. This incident underscores the inherent risks associated with aviation, particularly in regions with challenging terrain, and will likely lead to a review of safety protocols for flights operating in and out of Diani Airport.
