Battlefield 6 Growth Pauses Battlefield Labs to Focus on Season 1, Battle Royale Mode
February 22, 2024 – BF Studios is temporarily pausing it’s Battlefield Labs program to concentrate on delivering content for Season 1 of Battlefield 6 and the upcoming battle royale mode. The decision, announced today, aligns with the original intent of Battlefield Labs - to collaboratively shape Battlefield 6 prior to major releases. BF Studios assures players that play sessions will return, stating they ”will continue to develop the future of Battlefield 6 together.”
The battle royale mode, which EA has largely kept confidential despite prior leaks, is still in development and receiving updates based on player feedback from testing. Specific changes implemented include:
* Close-range TTK: Time-to-kill at close range for all weapons has been adjusted to prioritize accurate positioning and tracking, while providing players with increased opportunities to react to attacks.
* Armor Changes: all players will begin matches with the capacity for two armor plates, spawning with one plate equipped and the opportunity to acquire a second thru looting.
* World Improvements: Bug fixes and optimizations have been applied to the game surroundings, alongside adjustments to lighting and visibility across the map.
* Vehicle Balance: Helicopters and combat vehicles have undergone balance adjustments to maintain their role as powerful assets without becoming essential for survival in the late game. This includes changes to helicopter countermeasures and ammo economy.
* Performance: Overall performance has been improved through the identification and resolution of issues discovered during player testing.
