Alonso finished the day with the eighth fastest time, just over half a second behind Max Verstappen. Hamilton experienced a challenging day, ceding his car to test and reserve driver Antonio Fuoco during the first free practice session. He later managed the fifth fastest time in the second practice, 0.300 seconds behind Verstappen.
