The Geelong Cats secured a victory against the Bulldogs despite challenging conditions at Eureka Stadium, with players battling thru saturated fields. “The rain held off until the end, but it was like running in a swimming pool,” Geelong’s Amy McDonald told Seven after the game. “It wasn’t the best spectacle, but sometimes you just have to win dirty.” The deluge highlights the impact of recent weather patterns on sporting events and daily life across the region.
Elsewhere,a separate storm caused a 40-minute delay to the AFLW match between Carlton and GWS Giants at Ikon Park in Carlton on sunday afternoon,before play resumed and concluded safely.
