Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State university’s football team delivered a dominant performance on Homecoming, overwhelming North Alabama 56-28 in a decisive victory Saturday. The Governors‘ offense proved unstoppable, racking up important yardage and scoring repeatedly as they secured their second win of the season.
The win marks a significant boost for Austin Peay (2-6, 1-4 ASUN), who have struggled to find consistency this season. For North Alabama (3-5, 1-4 ASUN), the loss halts momentum as they continue their search for a conference win. The Governors’ explosive offensive display showcased a balanced attack, featuring both a potent rushing game and a dynamic passing attack.
Austin Peay seized momentum early, capitalizing on a North Alabama turnover on downs to march 77 yards in five plays.Running back Javious Bond highlighted the drive with a 60-yard touchdown run, his second rushing score of the day, extending the Governors’ lead to 35-14.
Later in the second quarter, quarterback Chris Parson connected with shemar Kirk on a spectacular over-50-yard touchdown pass, with Kirk leaping over two defenders for a highlight-reel grab. Parson continued to shine, adding three rushing touchdowns to his stat line, including a 37-yard scamper following a defensive stop by Deandre Creary.
Courtland simmons ignited Austin Peay’s final scoring drive with a 62-yard rush, setting up parson’s third rushing touchdown of the game. The Governors finished with 56 points, showcasing a diverse offensive attack and solidifying their Homecoming triumph.
