Videos Show Chaotic ICE raid in San Bernardino That Injured U.S.Marshal and TikTok Streamer
SAN BERNARDINO,CA – Newly obtained videos depict the moments of a chaotic ICE raid in San Bernardino on Tuesday that resulted in a U.S. Marshal’s deputy and a TikTok streamer being injured.the incident, which unfolded in the 400 block of 20th Street, stemmed from an attempt too detain 44-year-old Elias Parias, the subject of a federal immigration detention order.
The raid and subsequent shooting are now under inquiry, raising questions about the use of force during immigration enforcement operations. parias remains hospitalized as of Wednesday, postponing his arraignment on a charge of assaulting a federal agent. the injured U.S. Marshal’s deputy is also expected to recover.
According to a federal criminal complaint, authorities attempted to arrest Parias after cornering him during an immigration enforcement operation. Parias allegedly rammed his car into officers’ vehicles, prompting an agent to open fire.
Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli stated in a post that an agent opened fire, wounding Parias and the deputy, who was hit by a ricocheting bullet.”Both are expected to recover,” Essayli said.
A sworn statement from a Homeland Security Investigations special agent detailed that ICE and the U.S. Marshals Service had established surveillance on the 20th Street residence, believing Parias was located there. The surveillance was initiated because Parias “was the subject of an administrative detention order issued in connection with a federal immigration proceeding.” Federal agents had previously attempted to detain Parias, but he had evaded capture.
